The Chateau

Haven of exclusivity

One of The Times’ 50 Best Holidays in Turkey

The Chateau boasts five bedrooms, flanked by a turret at each end. Set on the Kas Peninsula, surrounded by lush greenery and its very own infinity swimming pool.It perches proudly on its own slope to create a truly inspiring travel experience.

Medieval grandeur

Although medieval in appearance, The Chateau is right up-to-date when it comes to home comforts. It is decorated with relaxing furnishings and a rustic kitchen leading to a bar area where you can enjoy excellent beverages and al fresco meals. Nonetheless, you can feel an ancient presence everywhere, from exposed timbers to heavy doors with gated peepholes and curving staircases ready to take you up into the towers. All bedrooms are air-conditioned* with thick stone walls and cross-ventilation that keeps every guest comfortable throughout the warm summer months.

Classical sculptures

From your first moments on the property, you’ll feel a real sense of grandeur as you sweep past the attractive marble water fountain at the entrance and then through the portcullis-like front doors to be greeted by a hall full of classical sculptures. The medieval tone is set: and will stay with you throughout your stay.

Living room

Next, step down into the huge living area, divided into a grand reception and sitting rooms with high ceilings and magical chandeliers. The semi-circular reception room is warmly decorated with soft cushions by the windows which are perfect for some tranquil reading or simply gazing out to sea. Either side of the curved area, you will find additional seating including a large fireplace.

When you’re done, relax outside on the spacious terrace. Or if you’re feeling more energetic, stroll down the steps through the lush greenery to The Chateau’s private bathing platforms at the sea’s edge.

On the way, you’ll pass a bougainvillea-draped patio, shading large Ottomans and a table. It’s the ideal place for afternoon tea, surrounded by the heady flavours of jasmine. However, the steps are steep and not really suitable for young children, elderly, the infirm or unfit, especially on the way back up.

The ground floor

The ground floor of The Chateau also has a study – a little retreat for those who want some peace and quiet alone – and a guest cloakroom.

In contrast, the dining room serves up medieval splendour that is worthy of the famous banquets held back in the age. Sit at its huge table and take in the enormous chandelier, Gothic revival windows and vaulted ceilings. It all adds to the medieval magic.

Adjacent to the dining room is another practical living area, with a ceiling that soars high up into the domed roof of another tower. Sit and play chess, with an aura of regal nobility that will inspire your every move!

Opening off from the dining area is a spacious kitchen.

Lower ground floor

The stairs from the terrace also take you to the private entrance of a bijou apartment-like bedroom, tucked away at the bottom of The Chateau and including its own private bathroom with mosaic décor and a secluded terrace. It is ideal for a couple who want some space for themselves while sharing The Chateau with a larger party, or as a place to tuck away their teenage children!

Upper floors

Upstairs, The Chateau boasts four more bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a large brass bedstead, private shower room and large dressing room, which also houses a single bed. The extra bed makes this room particularly suitable for a family, though it has been noted that French nobility used to prefer rooms of this kind, featuring a single bed for sleeping and a larger bed for other recreational activities.

The second and third bedrooms have French beds and private shower rooms, while the fourth is set in one of the towers. The sweep of the curving wall and beautiful views make this room especially unusual and attractive. Take a few more steps further up the tower staircase, and you’ll emerge onto a stunning enclosed rooftop terrace, with comfortable seating and superb views.

With the delights of Kas and the surrounding area within easy reach, The Chateau is a unique destination full of character that will give you an unforgettable holiday.
